VIRTUOSI THAILAND
Toto Jirajet Jesadachet (violin)
Thailand’s leading concert violinist and pedagogue, Toto Jirajet Jesadachet, is the founder of Virtuosi Thailand and Bangkok String Academy. His fine classical string ensemble, Virtuosi Thailand, gathers young leading Thai string players together and presents the highest quality and the most heartwarming performances of western classical music masterpieces. Their performances were impressed by both communities of classical music enthusiasts as well as the young new audiences. With Toto’s vision to create the new “fabulous, but friendly” vibe for the musical genre and bring back its glory, the ensemble had performed gorgeous works by legendary composers at numerous classical music landmarks all over the country during the past five years.
As a devoted teacher, Toto founded Bangkok String Academy where young violinists are intensively trained and prepared towards performances, auditions, and competitions at international standard. Students have developed immensely and succeeded at National competitions within a few years of training under his guidance.
At young ages, Toto had studied violin with all leading violinists of the generation; Sittichai Pengcharoen, Siripong Tiptan, and Dr. Tasana Nagavajara respectively. Growing up, he won numerous prizes including gold medal prize and first prizes from the Settrade Young Musician Competition, Beethoven National Competition for Young String Players, Thailand, Mozart International String Competition, and Princess Galyani V adhana International String Ensemble Competition.
Later, Toto became the first Thai violin student to be accepted to study at Asia’s most prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He was offered with a full scholarship covering tuition fees, boarding, and stipends. Toto graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance (Honour) with Distinction. He then pursued his further study at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he was awarded the Alec Templeton scholarship upon the admission, completed the Master of Arts degree in Violin Performance with Distinction, as well as
receiving the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music(LRAM) teaching qualification diploma.
During his postgraduate years in London, Toto was fortunate to study with Mayumi
Fujikawa, a legendary concert violinist and a violin descendent of Leonid Kogan and Eugène Ysaÿe. Furthermore, he was admitted to international summer festivals and masterclasses where he got opportunities to learn directly from the world’s best known pedagogues such as Miriam Fried, Zakhar Bron, Pierre Amoyal, Koichiro Harada, Shlomo Mintz, Qian Zhou, Keiko Urushihara, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Hagai Shaham, Ani Schnarch, Cihat Askin, Zhang Ti, etc. Toto’s chamber music works are mostly influenced by masters including Gábor Takács-Nagy, Albert Tiu, Leo Phillips, William Coleman, etc.
Currently, Toto is also pursuing his Doctor of Music degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy at the College of Music, Mahidol University. His dissertation focuses on developing a set of practical warm-up exercises to assist adolescent violin and viola students in Thailand in improving their foundational bow-arm techniques. Toto plays on an antique French violin made by Amédée Dieudonné of Mirecourt in 1942.
