Roots and Migrations

Roots and Migrations is a musical journey exploring identity, heritage and cultural exchange through the expressive combination of violin and cello.
At the heart of the concert is Duo Baraldi, formed by brothers Demian Baraldi (violin) and Dylan Baraldi (cello). Their artistic identity has been shaped by their Eastern roots, European musical training and an international career that has taken them to concert stages across Europe and Asia. Together, these influences form the foundation of a programme that explores how music can travel across borders while continuing to carry the traditions and identities from which it emerged.
The programme is conceived as a journey through different eras and musical languages. Italian repertoire, including music associated with Paganini, Pedrini and Sollima, enters into dialogue with contemporary musical ideas and influences from Asian traditions. Rather than presenting these cultures in isolation, Roots and Migrations explores the connections between them, allowing different musical languages to meet and evolve through performance.
A central element of the project is a newly commissioned work by Italian composer Nicola Segatta, conceived as a metaphorical bridge between East and West and as a musical reflection on the themes of roots, movement and cultural identity.
The Baraldi brothers have performed internationally in countries including Austria, Germany, China, Korea, Norway and the United States. Their shared experiences, particularly their connection with China, their country of origin, have influenced their interest in repertoire rooted in folk traditions and in creating musical dialogue between different eras and cultures.
Through the intimate voices of violin and cello, Roots and Migrations invites audiences to experience music not simply as repertoire, but as a living language shaped by places, memories, encounters and movement.
Join Duo Baraldi for an intimate concert where East meets West and musical traditions cross borders, revealing how our roots can travel with us while opening the way toward new horizons.
