From the irresistible pulse of swing to the intricate energy of bebop and the freedom of modern jazz, the opening concert of the Hua Hin Jazz Series invites audiences to experience the evolution of jazz through a vibrant live performance.

The Hua Hin Jazz Trio—featuring piano, bass and drums—will be joined by special guests on trumpet and saxophone. Together, the five musicians will explore contrasting rhythms, expressive melodies and fresh interpretations shaped by their individual musical personalities.

Expect bold solos, spontaneous exchanges and the unmistakable energy that emerges when jazz musicians listen, respond and create together on stage. Every performance becomes a musical conversation, making each moment unique to that evening.

Whether you are a lifelong jazz enthusiast or discovering the genre for the first time, this concert offers an engaging introduction to the elegance of swing, the excitement of bebop and the creative possibilities of modern jazz.

Satit Semayai, known as “Wan,” is a trumpet and flugelhorn player whose musical journey began while studying at Wang Klai Kangwon School. He later attended Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, where he studied Classical Music and Music Arranging.

After completing his studies, he worked at Thepmitr Suksa School in Surat Thani for three years before returning to Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University to pursue a Master’s degree in Education. In 2008, he began working at Wang Klai Kangwon School, where he also developed his studies and experience in jazz music.

Tenor Saxophone

Autsanee Sukpae, known as “Aussy,” is a Thailand-based saxophonist currently studying Jazz Performance at Rangsit University. His musical identity has been shaped by extensive live performance experience as well as his formal studies in jazz harmony, improvisation, and contemporary musical language.

He has performed at the Hua Hin International Jazz Festival, Thailand International Jazz Conference (TIJC), and Moscow Jazz Festival, gaining experience on both national and international stages. He has also had the opportunity to open for the renowned Igor Butman Quintet.

Aussy continues to explore jazz as a form of honest musical expression, using each performance as an opportunity to communicate with audiences, develop as an artist, and discover new musical possibilities.

Oat Lek Jarupoom Sainumpran

Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass

Jarupoom Sainumpran, known as “Oat Lek,” is an acoustic and electric bassist who studied at the College of Music, Mahidol University in Thailand. He was awarded First Runner-Up in the Thailand Jazz Competition in 2007.

His professional experience includes performing at the Thailand Jazz Conference in 2012, participating in numerous events at Mahidol University, and collaborating on special projects with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was a member of the house band at Brown Sugar Jazz Club from 2010 to 2011 and currently performs regularly at venues including Woodstock Hua Hin and Railway Restaurant Hua Hin. He has played with the Hua Hin Jazz Quintet since 2015.

Max Rattapon Aksornnum

Max Rattapon Aksornnum

Drums

Rattapon Aksornnum, known as “Max,” is a professional drummer and music educator specializing in jazz and contemporary music. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drum Set from the College of Music at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University.

Max performs regularly as a member of PAPAPAO and has also performed and recorded with 2nd Handman. As a session drummer, he has worked with various artists and studios, providing professional drum tracking and recording across a wide range of musical styles.

Alongside his performance career, Max works as a drum instructor at GT Room Music Academy, teaching drum set techniques, music theory, and performance skills.

His achievements include winning First Prize in the BSRU Jazz Solo Competition in January 2016 and becoming a semi-finalist in the Thailand Jazz Competition in 2016.
